[OPIC] Survey 선택 + 예상 질문 & 답변(Script)

오픽 전부터 봐야지 봐야지 하고 미루다가 최근에 삼성 원서 쓰는데 필요해져서 갑자기 보고 왔다.
토욜일인가 시험이었는데 그 주 수요일에 원서 접수, 결제했고 이틀 정도 예상답변 파파고 돌려가면서 준비했다.
도움이 될 지는 모르겠지만.. 내가 준비했던 스크립트를 살포시 올려놓겠다.
준비방법 – 짧게 준비했기 때문에 아래와 같이 준비했다.
나는 내가 선택한 서베이에 나오는 예상질문을 놓고, (한 서베이에 질문 2-3개정도 있더라)
파파고에 한글로 먼저 친다음에, 그걸 보기 좋게 좀 다듬는 방향으로 준비했다.
한 번이라도 소재 생각해보고 1차:파파고 2차:내가 수정 이렇게 하면 머리에 남아서 좋더라.
0. 서베이 질문 선택하기 1. 선택한 서베이에 해당하는 대표 질문들 2-3개 정도 추려오기 2. 그 질문들에 대한 한글 대답 작성하고 파파고 돌려보기 3. 매끄럽게 수정(그냥 딱 봤을 때 번역기 돌린 티 안날정도로만 수정했다. 파파고가 완벽하진 않더라) 4. 소재같은거 1,2번에서 이미 생각했으므로 두세번정도 쓴거 안보고 답해보기
이런식으로 연습하면 될 듯하다

– 첫번째 질문부터 recycle나왔는데, 요즘 너무 흔하게 나오는 것 같아서 준비안했는데 나와서 놀랐다.
– 그리고 중간에 Eva가 질문하는데 한 질문에 이거는 아니? 이거 설명해줘. 그리고 이것도. 막 이런식으로 질문이 너무 많이하길래
“아니 Eva(에바)야,, 너 질문이 좀 많다? ㅎㅎ.. 나 너 질문 다 기억 안나는데 그냥 내맘대로 기억나는거 설명할게^^” 이런 뉘앙스로 답하고 내맘대로 답한거 있다
질문 하나에는 하나만 물어봐야지.. 에바야..^^

You asked me to tell in detail, so I’ll explain the furniture.
First of all, there are three rooms and a living room and a kitchen.
There is a sofa in the living room, a styler, a TV, a vacuum cleaner and so on.
There’s a living room right next to the kitchen, there are ovens, air fryers, refrigerators
Actually I don’t know much about the kitchen because I don’t cook often.
By the way, there are three other rooms, one for parents, one for younger brother, and one for me.
Like a normal people’s rooms, my room has beds, desks, bookshelves, and closets.

The biggest difference is the elevator.
There was no elevator in the house I lived in elementary school.
At that time, I lived on the fifth floor, but beacuse it didn’t have elevator,
I remember having a hard time going up and down every day.
But it was good to be able to exercise in everyday life.
On the contrast, My house is on the 22nd floor. There must be an elevator. If I don’t have it, I’m going to die.
Thankful to the elevator, I can go up and down so convenient, and I think it’s very wonderful invention I love it!

Watching a movie requires a lot of energy, and I want to concentrate on that, so I buy something to drink in the middle.
After the movie, I have no choice but to go straight to the bathroom because of the coke I drank during the movie.
When I get home, I often look up YouTube to find out what meaning the main character had in the scene of the movie, what he intended to do, and what the director wanted to say

I like going to the beach rather than the mountains.
When I first go traveled, I didn’t know how to swim, but since I went often, I learned how to swim. Isn’t it amazing? I think I’m good at sports haha . Believe or not!
By the way, I literally like to watch the horizon because I can shake off all sorts of thoughts.
And when I hear the sound of the waves, I feel at ease.
And also, the greatest part is the restaurants. How great would it be to eat local specialties at a seafood restaurant lined up in front of the beach?

Two years ago ~ I went to London seven sisters / Jeju island with my friends.
At the time of the trip, none of us can drive. But the destination we were going was a place where we had to walk for about 30 minutes from the station.
Because There was no other public transportation, but only by car.
It didn’t rain until we went to the destination, but it rained too much when we arrived and took some pictures.
It was so windy that it was hard to stand up and even worse, we didn’t have an umbrella.

Isn’t it a unique experience? I can not forget this memory.

Because many brands are gathered, I can get more options.
When I go, I go with my friend or with my mom.
I can go shopping alone, but it’s more fun to go together.
I can ask if I look good in this outfit. Shopping is always fun! Money is the only problem, haha.

Once I go shopping, I tend to meet after lunch. That’s how you have energy.
And you can go everywhere because you shop at the shopping center.
My favorite brand is Mixxo. It’s a brand in Korea. Oh wait, do they have it in other countries too? I don’t know.
Anyway, Mixxo has a lot of trendy clothes and fits my size, so I like them.
After shopping, I go to dinner to save all my energy.
And after dinner, I can say that shopping is over.
6. 음악
1. How did you first get interested in music? What kind of music did you listen to when you were young? How was that music different from the music you listen to today?
The first time I get interested in music was when I got my first MP3 player.
By the time it came out, a group called Big Bang was popular, and I listened to K-pop a lot and liked it.
But for now, I don’t really know k-pop idol singers and not enjoying listening to it.
Instead these days, I like indie singers and pop songs more than that.
2. You indicated in the survey that you enjoy listening to music. Please tell me about the two different music genres you like. Why do you like those music genres? What are some differences and similarities between them?
That’s a good question Eva, The genres I most prefer are band music and pop song.
The reason why I like these genres is because during the time listening to music,
I want to get rid of my complicated thinking and relieve stress.
So I want not that heavy, and not that sounds loud music.
And that’s why I like those two genres.
3. Please tell me about your favorite singer or composer. What kind of songs does this person sing or write? Why do you like the singer or composer
I like a Korean singer named IU. I don’t know whether you know she is really famous singer in Korea.
She does music that is calm and that I don’t have to think much.
And her voice is so attractive that I can’t get enough of it no matter how many times I hear it.
She is a composer and singer, and her ability to write and compose is also the best.
Like the Beatles, it is likely to be rumored to be the next generation in Korea.

OPIC 영어 시험 후기 및 질문 리스트 (2021년 10월 16일)
OPIC 시험 준비 과정과 시험 후기 및 실제 시험에 나왔던 질문 리스트를 공유해보겠습니다. 참고로 기존에 갖고 있던 OPIC 등급은 IH 였으며, 유효기간 2년이 만료된 상태였습니다.
OPIC 준비 기간 및 목표
시험 준비 기간은 1주일로 잡았습니다. 시험 날짜를 1주일 뒤로 정한 이유는 항상 마감일을 정해야 시험 준비를 집중적으로 할 수 있기 때문입니다. 이번 시험 목표는 AL(Advanced Low)였습니다. 사실 제 영어실력이나, 시험 준비기간을 생각해 봤을 때 불가능한 점수였으나, 최고 등급을 받겠다는 마음을 먹어야만 초조한 마음으로 더욱 오픽 시험에 집중을 할 수 있었습니다.
OPIC 준비 방법
2년 만에 다시 보는 시험이라 그동안 트렌드나 변경점이 있는지 확인을 해야 했습니다. 단시간에 많은 정보를 얻고 싶어 선택한 것이 바로 “오픽 노잼” youtube 채널이었습니다. OPIC 시험 준비과정서부터 고득점 방법까지 너무나 재미있고 쉽게 알려주고 있어 정말 도움이 많이 되었습니다. 특히 “오픽 노잼 AL 시리즈” 영상은 모두 정주행 하였습니다.
해당 채널을 통해 특히 아래 2가지 부분에서 크게 도움되었습니다. 첫 번째로 11번, 12번 롤플레이 질문 답변입니다. 해당 문제가 나올 때 질문만 얘기하고 끝나기가 일수였으나, 정말 대화하는 형식으로 말을 하니 딱딱하지 않고 좀 더 자연스러워졌습니다. 두 번째는 fillter 사용입니다. um… yeah.. Ok. whre do I begin… 등 filler 단어를 적극 사용하게 되었고, 이를 통해 생각할 시간도 확보하고 자연스러운 흐름으로 답변을 진행하는데 정말 많은 도움이 되었습니다.

질문 자체가 정확하진 않지만 최대한 기억나는 대로 적어봤습니다. 난이도는 level 5를 선택하였습니다. 영화관, 집 형태와 책임감(할 일), 옷, 패션 트렌드, 여행 일정, 재활용 이슈 총 6개 주제에 대한 질문이 나왔습니다.

시험 후기
우선 시험 질문에는 코로나 시국과 관계없이 여행과 영화 관련 질문이 5개나 나왔습니다. 물론 질문은 과거 경험과 연관되어 출제가 되었습니다. 여행과 영화 관련 질문은 단골 질문으로, 항상 준비를 해놓으면 좋을 것 같습니다. 재활용품 주제는 지금까지 OPIC시험을 보면서 처음 듣는 질문이었습니다. 환경문제가 사회적으로 중요진만큼 오픽 질문 리스트에도 반영된 것 같습니다.

사소한 일도 모두 기록하는 습관을 유지하려고 노력하고 있습니다. 그래서 지난 12월 27일에 봤던 오픽 시험 후기에 대해 솔직하게 공유하고자 합니다.

이전에 오픽 시험을 본 적은 없습니다. 방학이 시작되자마자 영어 공부를 하겠다고 마음을 먹었고( 사실은 쓸데없는 영어 시험을 위한 공부 ) 약 9~10일의 시간을 두고 오픽 시험을 신청했습니다. 기한을 짧게 잡은 이유는… 1달 뒤에 오픽 시험이 있다면 아무래도 여유를 부리게 되지 않을까 싶어서요 ㅎㅎ 준비 기간이 10일이 채 안되니 불안하고 걱정되어 열심히 하게 되더라구요.
저는 친구가 사용했던 2019년에 출판된 “2주만에 끝내는 해커스 OPIC Advanced 공략” 문제집을 그대로 참고했습니다. 문제집을 따로 구입하기도 싫었고, 모범답안이나 전략은 거기서 거기라고 생각했기 때문입니다. 참고하실 분들은 아래 해커스영어 사이트에서 확인해보시기 바랍니다.

그리고 전 유튜브 “오픽노잼”을 정말 많이 봤습니다. 다른 학원에서 알려주는 모범답안이나 전략이 있는데, 정말 학원스럽더라구요. 오픽 시험은 “자연스러운 회화 스킬”을 중요시한다는데, 스크립트도 딱딱하고, 표현도 구어체의 느낌이 나지 않았습니다. 반면, 오픽노잼은 캐나다 교포분이 운영하는 채널인데 진짜 원어민이 사용하는 표현, 자연스러움을 추구해서 많은 도움이 되었던 것 같습니다.

아직까지도 머리 속에 박힌 필러(Filler) 표현들… 평소에 이런 표현들을 전혀 쓰지 않았는데 오픽 시험 준비를 하면서 완전히 입애 뱄습니다. 시험장에 가서 녹음을 할 때에도 중간에 할 말이 떠오르지 않거나, 준비한 말을 잊어버렸을 때 멈추지(pause) 않고 필러 표현들을 썼습니다.

오픽 시험을 위한 팁은 제 개인적 느낌으로는 “연기” 가 정말 중요한 것 같습니다. 시험을 한 번 밖에 보지 않았기 때문에 엉터리일 수도 있지만, 오픽 가상 시험관 Eva와 대화하는 느낌이 물씬 나는 것이 좋을 듯 합니다. 저는 앞에 외국인이 앉아있다 생각하고 제스쳐, 표정 연기까지 하면서 녹음했던 것 같습니다. 이때 도움이 되었던 것은 틈만 나면 시청했던 미드 “프랜즈(Friends)” 였습니다. 그들의 제스쳐, 표정 연기, 목소리 톤을 따라했고, 일부러 오버한 적도 많습니다. 이렇게 해야 긴장되는 시험장 안에서도 충분히 연기할 수 있고, 내 답변이 스크립트처럼 딱딱하게 들리지 않을 것 같았습니다.

그리고 많은 분들이 궁금해하시는 “스크립트 준비” 는 저는 어느 정도 필요하다고 봅니다. 외국에서 3, 4년 이상 사신 분들을 제외하고는 자신이 예상하지도 못했던, 혹은 관심이 아예 없는 분야에 대한 질문을 받으면 그 자리에서 대답하기 힘들 것입니다. “우리나라 지형에 대해 말해봐라” 라는 질문에 한국어로 대답하라 해도 저는 못할 것 같습니다…
제가 말한 스크립트 준비는 달달 외우기보단 이런 질문이 나왔을 때 어떤 대답을 할지, 방어 전략을 취해야 한다는 의미입니다. 오픽 돌발 질문 유형 중에 패션 관련 주제가 있는데, 전 패션에 관심이 없어 뭘 말해야 할지 몰랐습니다. 그래서 패션 주제를 물어본다면 최소한 이거라도 대답해야지 하는 준비는 했던 것이죠. 물론, 오픽노잼의 “꿀팁” 대로 잘 모르면 모른다고 솔직하게 대답하는 표현들도 공부해가면 좋습니다. 다만 모른다고만 하고 넘어가기보단 제가 말씀드린 “최소한 1~2 문장 정도의 답변” 준비는 필요합니다. 저는 패션 질문이 나오면 적어도 아래 문장만큼은 대답할 수 있도록 준비했습니다.
“와우, 사실 난 패션을 잘 몰라. 옷이나 신발에 그렇게 관심이 많지 않거든. 그런데 보니까 요즘 한국 사람들은 튀는 옷을 좋아하는 것 같아. 색깔이 화려한 옷을 입어서 다른 사람들 관심을 끄는 걸 즐기나봐. 솔직히 말해서, 난 사람들 관심이 불편해, 그래서 그들 생각을 이해하진 못해…”
패션을 몰라도 이 정도 답변하는 것이 내가 영어를 못해서 모르는 것이 아니라 진짜 패션을 모르는 것이고, 내 영어 대화 스킬은 충분하다는 것을 보여줄 수 있을 것 같았습니다.
이제 제가 받았던 질문을 공유하겠습니다. 그 전에 참고로 저는 오픽 시험을 위해 1주일 동안 매일 6~7시간 이상 공부했습니다. 오픽 유형이 설문조사, 돌발, 롤플레잉 등으로 간단해보여도 질문 주제가 굉장히 다양해서 준비할 것이 많았습니다.
1. 자기소개 해봐.
2. (거주지) 너가 가장 좋아하는 방(room)이 뭐야?
3. (거주지) 지금 집을 꾸미기 위해 뭐를 해봤어?
4. (거주지) 지금 집과 옛날 집의 차이점은 뭐야?
5. (설문조사) 너 제일 좋아하는 카페 어디야? 왜 좋아해?
6. (설문조사) 너가 좋아한다고 했던 카페는 어떻게 알게 된거야? 우연히 본거야?
7. (설문조사) 너가 좋아한다고 했던 카페에 얼마나 자주 가? 혼자 가? 아님 친구랑? 가서 뭐해?
8. (돌발질문) 요즘 다들 스마트폰 사용하잖아. 스마트폰의 가장 큰 매력은 뭐라고 생각해?
9. (돌발질문) 지금 너가 사용하는 스마트폰이랑 옛날 핸드폰의 차이점은 뭐야?
10. (돌발질문) 넌 스마트폰으로 주로 뭘해? 어떻게 사용하는지 말해봐.
11. (롤플레잉) 너가 친구 MP3 플레이어 망가뜨렸어. 친구한테 전화해서 상황 설명하고 대안 2~3가지 제시해봐.
12. (롤플레잉) 너가 MP3 플레이어 사고 싶은데, 친구한테 전화해서 이것저것 3~4가지 정도 물어봐.
13. (돌발질문) 옛날에 전자기기가 고장난 적 있어? 그때 상황과 해결했던 방법을 설명해봐.
14. (돌발질문) 너의 이웃나라와의 관계 변화에 대해 설명해봐. 경제든, 정치든 어느 분야 상관없이.
15. (돌발질문) 이웃나라와 있었던 기억에 남는 사건에 대해 설명해봐(확실하지 않음 ㅠ)
질문은 역시나 콤보 셋(combo set)으로 나왔고, 저는 난이도를 5-5로 선택했습니다. 그리고 중요한 것은 저는 15번 질문을 아예 스킵했다는 거죠. 문제 스킵은 제 예상에는 없던 시나리오인데, 문제당 답을 길게 했는지 시간이 없었습니다. 14번 질문에 대답을 다 하고, 15번 문제를 듣는데 40분이 다 채워졌습니다.(시험관이 얄짤없이 헤드셋 벗으라고 하더군요…) 주위를 둘러보니 시험장에는 저 혼자 밖에 없었습니다.
제 “마지막 팁” 은 또 연기와 관련된 것인데, 본인의 캐릭터를 정하고 가라는 것입니다. 저는 비교적 운이 좋았다고 생각하는데, 그 이유는 스마트폰, MP3 플레이어 등 돌발질문 및 롤플레잉 주제가 기술과 관련되어 있다는 것입니다. 오픽 시험을 준비하며 제 자신을 “커피 좋아하고, 카페 가서 음악 감상 및 독서 좋아하고, 기술에 관심있는 사람” 으로 정했습니다. 이렇게 캐릭터 설정을 하니 모든 질문을 컨트롤 하면서 자연스럽게 연결할 수 있더라구요.
실제로 거주지 관련 문제에도 방에 각종 커피 원두가 있다고 대답했고, 스마트폰으로 음악을 감상한다고 했고, 프로젝트 시연을 하는데 노트북이 문제가 생겨 pc방을 가서 해결했다고 했고, 중국과 기술적 격차가 점점 벌어져 기술 산업 방면에 관계가 변화되었다고 했죠.

거주지 관련 질문은 서베이에 필수로 들어가는 항목인만큼 반드시 준비를 해두어야 하는 항목입니다.
집에 대한 묘사부터 시작해거 과거와 현재 비교, 돌발 주제로도 충분히 나올 수 있는 주제이기 때문에 꼼꼼하게 공부해두면 좋습니다.

Background survey
오픽 시험을 볼 때, 사전 설문조사를 진행합니다. 설문조사에서 선택한 내용에 맞추어서 시험 문제가 출제됩니다. 그래서, 설문조사에서 비슷한 내용을 선택해서 전략적으로 시험에 응하는 것이 중요해요!
저는 아래처럼 선택했습니다.
1. 일 경험 없음.
2. 학생 아님. 졸업 후 5년 이상
3. 독신자로서 개인주택이나 아파트먼트 거주
4. 영화보기, 해변가기, 공원가기, 카페/커피전문점에 가기, TV시청하기

문제형식
오픽은 총 14문제가 출제됩니다. 1~9번은 1개 주제에 대한 질문이 3개씩 출제됩니다. 예를 들어, 독서 관련된 문제 3개, 공원 관련된 문제 3개, 카페 관련된 문제 3개. 이렇게 말이죠.

선택한 주제에 대한 예상 질문 & 대답
오픽은 수천개의 질문 중에서 시험마다 다른 질문들이 나오기 때문에 예상 질문에 대한 ‘스크립트’를 준비하는 것은 큰 의미가 없습니다.
그렇지만, 각 주제(집, 재활용, 공원 등)에 대해서 어떤 키워드를 위주로 미리 고민하고 작문을 하는 것은 분명 도움이 될 거에요!

(MP)Well, you know, nowadays, I prepare for the job and study English at home regardless of weekdays or weekends. Especially I studied English to get an English speaking certificate like OPIc
(Feeling)It is so hard for me. you know, but I’m interested the English because I realize that my English ability is getting better.
(Why)but, a lot of companies in Korea require an English-speaking certificate. I think, if you want to get a job in korea, you must be good at English.
This is why I study English these days.

Then, um, I used my bedroom with my sister, ah, it was not MY bedroom, it was OUR bedroom. and, my bed was in the second floor. So I have to step up to sleep in every night, and um you know. this process was really interesting for me. because you know back then, I was a just child!
But, now, I live alone and there is only one bed in my house, and just first floor. there is no second floor!
It is the biggest difference between the past house with now.

Well, okay, let me say about my apartment. It was a very very tiny little apartment.
there is only one room like studio type!
But, I love my house and my place so much.

And then, because of the texture, I can’t wake up early every morning. The blanket will not let me wake up!

(MP) The house which I live in now is on 5 floors of the apartment. Yeah, it is no problem, but, you know, there is no elevator in the apartment.

(Feeling) When I first moved into this house, it was so hard to go outside. it was not easy.
And um, you know, I live in this house for 1 year, and then now, I get very strong stamina because of the stairs.
The building without an elevator makes me more strong.

sometimes, I’m really impressed by the Computer graphics technology. especially in the science movie.
In the past, I think, you know, it is just my opinion, The computer graphics technology in the movies was not natural. for example the terminator.
But, you know, nowadays, The movie looks 100% real.
I think, the technology has been very advanced over the 20 years!
By the way, the actors are not older than past! just same! Why am I only the one getting old?
Q. What issues about movies do you talk about with your friends or your family members these days? What are they and why are they big issues?

Um, you know, Last year, I got a chance an internship in an IT company. so, I had to go interview. well, On the interview day, I thought I had to take a subway because the subway is worked really regularly on time. So, I took the second line in green. it was good. I felt the time was enough to arrive at the interview place. But, suddenly, the subway was stopped because of a brake engineering problem for about 20 minutes. As a result, I was late the interview time, I had to apologize! It was a very annoying experience of transportation.

And then, you know what, In the spring season, we are able to find flowers anywhere, right? on road, in the park, anywhere! So, if I go outside, i can find a lot of flowers all day. well, I am so happy for a day.
This is why I really love the spring season among the fours season in Korea.
